Test for Starch

• If the iodine solution turns from brown to blue-black, then starch is present

Benedicts Test

• Used to test for the amount if any, the amount of reducing sugars in a sample
• Benedicts is a blue solution containing copper (II) sulfate ions which is soluble in water
  • Copper (I) oxide is not soluble in water
